Since 1950, Maison Pierre Mignon has safeguarded an extraordinary heritage: the mythical Clos des Graviers, a walled single vineyard that gives birth to one of Champagne’s most rare and refined cuvées. A true flagship of the House, Clos des Graviers embodies the ultimate expression of terroir, craftsmanship, and family legacy.
Planted in Breuil in the 1950s by Alex Mignon, the vineyard is a place of devotion and patience. Its stone walls were painstakingly built from the chalk-rich rocks of the vineyard itself, laid one by one as the soil was worked by hand. This singular plot, cultivated with deep respect for tradition, is planted with Chardonnay, Meunier, and Pinot Noir, the three great grape varieties of Champagne.
The 2011 vintage is the result of a closely guarded blend, to which only Jean-Charles Mignon holds the key. Harvested in a year of character and contrast, the wines were then aged in the House’s quiet, shadowed cellars, allowing time to shape a Champagne of profound complexity and elegance—one designed for the most meaningful moments in life.
In the glass, Clos des Graviers 2011 shows a deep, luminous colour with golden-green highlights and a lively, persistent effervescence. The nose is powerful and expressive, opening on notes of cocoa, followed by refined nuances of white pepper and tobacco leaf. With aeration, an elegant mineral expression emerges, revealing the soul of this exceptional terroir.
Highly acclaimed, this exceptional cuvée has received 93/100 from James Suckling and an outstanding 98/100 from the Guia Melendo del Champagne, confirming its status among Champagne’s most prestigious wines.
